Where it came from
The Bear token, identified as number 14 in the Double Masters 2022 token set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in July 2022. This set was designed as a premium reprint product for Magic: The Gathering, specifically curated to support the high-power level of the Draft environment and the secondary market interest in chase cards. Tokens are integral to the game mechanics, representing creatures created by various spells or abilities, and the 2022 iteration focused on high-quality digital art styles consistent with the modern aesthetic of the game.
The artwork for this specific token was crafted to provide a clean, functional visual aid for players while maintaining the thematic consistency of the set. Like many tokens in this release, it was designed by the Wizards of the Coast internal creative team to ensure clarity during gameplay, avoiding the clutter of complex background elements. It was received as a standard but essential utility card, valued by players who prefer uniform aesthetics for their creature tokens during competitive sessions.
