Where it came from
Daze was reimagined for the Amonkhet Invocations series, a collection of premium, foil-etched masterpieces included as chase cards in the 2017 Amonkhet expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set drew heavily from Ancient Egyptian aesthetics, blending them with the darker, god-centric lore of the plane. This specific card, designed with the distinct, hieroglyphic-inspired frame synonymous with the Invocations, was intended to evoke the feeling of an unearthed relic from a lost civilization.
The artwork for this iteration was crafted to align with the series' cohesive, ornate visual language, characterized by a gold-heavy palette and stark, monolithic iconography. While the Amonkhet Invocations were initially met with polarized opinions from the player community due to their unique, stylized font and frame design, they have since become highly sought-after collector pieces for their striking departure from standard card aesthetics and their limited presence in booster packs.
