Earthbind

Earthbind is a card from the 1994 Summer Magic set, also colloquially known as the Edgar set. This set was produced as a corrective replacement for the flawed Revised Edition, intending to fix numerous misprints and color issues that had plagued the previous release. Despite the intention of a widespread commercial launch, a warehouse error led to the majority of the stock being destroyed, making the cards that survived exceptionally scarce within the broader context of early Magic: The Gathering history.

The card illustration was executed by Quinton Hoover, a prolific artist during the game's formative years whose work is noted for its distinctive, flowing line art and expressive figures. The design of Earthbind reflects the mechanical focus of the game's early sets, emphasizing enchantment-based control mechanics. While the card itself saw limited competitive play, it remains a notable example of Hoover’s artistic contribution to the visual identity of the game during its inaugural period.
