Where it came from
Evacuation was originally released in the Urza's Destiny expansion in 1999, designed as a powerful blue utility spell that returns all creatures to their owners' hands. The card quickly became a staple in control decks for its ability to clear the board entirely, effectively resetting the game state when the player is under pressure. Its function as a mass-bounce effect established it as a classic piece of Magic: The Gathering history.
The Commander Masters version, featuring collector number 89, updates the card with modern frame aesthetics while retaining the iconic, functional essence of the original. The artwork continues the tradition of depicting the theme of forced retreat, reflecting the high-mana cost, high-impact nature of the spell in the Commander format, where board resets are essential for managing multiplayer dynamics.
