Where it came from
Exotic Orchard is a utility land card that first appeared in the original Commander set in 2011, designed to help players in multiplayer formats access colors of mana produced by their opponents. It was included in the 2023 March of the Machine Commander set as part of an effort to provide reliable mana fixing for multi-colored decks, featuring updated border treatments that align with the aesthetic of the expansion.
The art for this specific printing reflects the high-fantasy, planar-spanning conflict of the March of the Machine storyline. By providing access to any color an opponent can produce, the design serves as a diplomatic tool in the tabletop game, encouraging players to monitor the board state and adapt their mana base to the shifting strategies of their neighbors.
