Where it came from
Fauna Shaman was originally introduced in the Magic: The Gathering set Magic 2011, designed as a creature that facilitates graveyard strategy by allowing players to tutor for specific creatures. The card was reimagined for The Brothers' War Art Series as part of a line of collectible, non-playable cards that focus entirely on highlighting the illustration without the functional rules text found on standard game pieces.
The artwork for this particular iteration of the card was created by artist Jesper Ejsing. His design choices emphasize the shaman's connection to nature and biological manipulation, a theme that fits within the overarching narrative of the Art Series, which aims to provide enthusiasts with a clean, high-fidelity canvas to appreciate the technical skill and thematic depth behind the game's long-running visual catalog.
