Where it came from
Fortune's Favor was originally released in the 2016 expansion Eldritch Moon, designed by Wizards of the Coast for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. This specific version was issued as part of the 2017 Friday Night Magic promotional series, which served as a reward for players participating in local game store events. These promotional cards were distinguished by their unique foil treatment and special set symbols, intended to foster community engagement and celebrate regular play.
The artwork for Fortune's Favor was created by illustrator Clint Cearley, who sought to capture the card's theme of divine intervention and tactical selection. The illustration depicts a mystical, celestial-themed interface that reflects the card's ability to reveal cards from the top of the library. Upon its release, the card was received as a versatile utility spell, prized by players for its ability to provide card selection and graveyard synergy in various formats.
