Heron's Grace Champion

Heron's Grace Champion was released as part of the Eldritch Moon set in 2016 for Magic: The Gathering, specifically featuring in the set's promotional materials. This card depicts a human knight affiliated with the cathar forces of the plane of Innistrad, a setting defined by its gothic horror aesthetic and the constant struggle between humanity and eldritch threats. The design reflects the set's narrative pivot, as the established religious orders of Innistrad rallied to combat the cosmic corruption introduced by the encroaching presence of the Eldrazi titan Emrakul.

The card's artwork, illustrated by Magali Villeneuve, captures the resolute and protective nature of the character through dramatic lighting and high-fantasy armor detail. Villeneuve is highly regarded in the community for her ability to convey stoicism and heroism in her character portraits, and her contribution to this promo helped cement the card's visual identity within the set. It was received as a functional, tribe-specific card for human-focused decks, prized by players for its ability to bolster defensive lines while providing aggressive support during combat.
