Imperial Seal

Imperial Seal was originally printed in the 1999 set Portal Three Kingdoms, a set designed to introduce new players to Magic: The Gathering through a simplified ruleset. The card was created as a powerful tutor effect, allowing players to search their library for any card and place it on top, a mechanic modeled after the functional strength of Vampiric Tutor. Because Portal Three Kingdoms had a limited release primarily in the Asian market, the original card became one of the most elusive and expensive staples in the game's history.

The 2022 Double Masters version, illustrated by Mark Tedin, was created to provide a long-awaited reprint of this high-utility card for a broader competitive audience. Tedin, a veteran artist known for his iconic work on the game’s early sets, provided a new aesthetic interpretation that maintains the card’s grave and authoritative tone. This version was received with significant interest by collectors and players alike, as it finally offered a more accessible path to obtaining a card that had defined legacy and vintage formats for over two decades.
