Inventive

Inventive is one of the distinct 'front cards' introduced in the Jumpstart 2022 set for Magic: The Gathering. Released by Wizards of the Coast, these cards serve a functional purpose as deck themes, identifying which of the set's randomized pack archetypes a player has opened. The design philosophy behind this set was to offer an accessible, self-contained play experience that blends high-energy gameplay with stylized, often playful artistic direction that breaks from the game's traditional fantasy aesthetic.

The artwork for this card, illustrated by Wisnu Tan, was crafted to evoke a sense of creative spark and intellectual curiosity, aligning with the mechanical focus of the blue-aligned 'Inventive' theme. The illustration style reflects the set's broader move toward a more vibrant, semi-whimsical visual language intended to distinguish the Jumpstart series from standard core sets. Since its release, the card has been primarily collected by those focusing on the unique 'front card' variants, which are celebrated for their specialized utility and distinct visual identity within the broader Magic: The Gathering catalog.
