Island // Island

The Brothers' War Art Series was released in 2022 as a subset of the broader Magic: The Gathering expansion, The Brothers' War. These cards were designed to highlight the illustrative work behind the set's landscapes, focusing on the mechanical and war-torn aesthetic of the plane of Dominaria during the conflict between Urza and Mishra. Unlike standard game cards, these prints are intended for display, serving as an appreciation of the artistic contribution to the collectible card game medium.

This specific Island card features artwork by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game. Voss utilized a cinematic, high-contrast style that emphasizes the scale and atmosphere of the setting, moving away from traditional fantasy tropes to lean into the industrial and rusted motifs central to this narrative arc. The series was well-received by the player base for its high-quality print finish and the inclusion of original artistic signatures on the reverse side.
