Plains // Plains

The Brothers' War Art Series was released in 2022 as a subset of the broader Brothers' War expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These cards were specifically produced as promotional items, appearing in set boosters to showcase the detailed illustrations created for the set. This particular card features the artwork by Titus Lunter, a frequent contributor to the game whose style often emphasizes atmospheric landscapes and environmental storytelling.

The design of this card highlights the classic visual identity of the Plains basic land type, reimagined through the lens of the Urza versus Mishra conflict. Lunter’s illustration was intended to evoke the industrial yet desolate aesthetic of the setting, focusing on the interplay of light and horizon. While these cards are non-playable in standard tournament formats, they are highly regarded by collectors for their focus on the artistic labor involved in world-building rather than mechanical gameplay utility.
