Ivory Tower

Ivory Tower was originally released in the 1993 Alpha set for Magic: The Gathering, designed by Richard Garfield as part of the game's initial core collection. The card was intended to provide a defensive utility for players aiming to maintain a high life total, reflecting the game's early mechanical focus on resource management and incremental advantage. It quickly became a staple in control-oriented decks during the game's formative years.

The Summer Magic version, often referred to as the Edgar set, originated from a 1994 print run by Cartamundi that was intended to correct errors found in the earlier Revised edition. Due to significant misprints and quality control issues, the majority of the stock was intended for destruction, but a small quantity inadvertently entered the market. The card features artwork by Quinton Hoover, whose distinct, ornate illustration style defined much of the early game's aesthetic, emphasizing a sense of mystical architecture.
