Where it came from
Krosan Grip was originally introduced in the Time Spiral expansion of 2006 as a strategic response to the dominance of artifacts and enchantments in the Magic: The Gathering competitive meta. The card gained significant notoriety due to its split-second keyword, a mechanic that prevents opponents from responding to the spell, making it a definitive answer to powerful permanents that would otherwise be protected by counterspells or activated abilities.
The version from Time Spiral Remastered, released in 2021, features artwork by Dave Dorman. Dorman, a celebrated illustrator known for his work on Star Wars projects, emphasizes the primal, destructive nature of the Krosan forest's resurgence. The card remains a staple in the Commander format, favored by players who value reliability and absolute interaction in their deck construction.
