Where it came from
Krosan Grip was originally introduced in the 2006 set Time Spiral, designed as a highly effective utility spell that prevents opponents from responding with their own instant-speed cards. The 'Split Second' mechanic was created to offer players a way to interact with complex board states without fear of interference, marking a significant mechanical shift in the game's competitive landscape during that era.
This specific printing comes from the Commander 2013 product line, a series of preconstructed decks intended to introduce new players to the popular multiplayer format. The card features illustration by Jim Murray, whose work captures the essence of the Krosan forest's aggressive growth. It remains a staple in green-aligned decks because it reliably removes powerful artifacts or enchantments, maintaining its relevance for over a decade.
