What it does
Counter target spell. If that spell is countered this way, put it on top of its owner's library instead of into that player's graveyard.
Each scale glitters, a momentary distraction from everything that matters.

Where it came from
Memory Lapse was released as part of the Secret Lair Drop Series, specifically featured within the 'Secret Lair: Artist Series: Seb McKinnon' drop. This collection was curated to highlight the distinct, dreamlike aesthetic of illustrator Seb McKinnon, whose work has become a signature element of the Magic: The Gathering visual identity since he began contributing to the game in 2011.
The card design features a monochromatic, haunting illustration that aligns with McKinnon's established artistic style, which often leans into surrealist and melancholic themes. Upon its release, this version of the card was well-received by collectors and players alike, praised for moving away from traditional fantasy tropes in favor of the artist's atmospheric and evocative storytelling approach.
