Orzhov Basilica

Orzhov Basilica was first introduced in the Guildpact expansion in 2006, representing the bureaucratic and ecclesiastical power of the Orzhov Syndicate within the Ravnica cityscape. The card belongs to a cycle of 'bouncelands' designed to provide color-fixing for two-color decks at the cost of entering play tapped and returning a land to the player's hand, a mechanic that emphasizes the strategic trade-offs central to Magic: The Gathering gameplay.

The version from Commander 2021, collector number 308, serves as a functional reprint within the preconstructed product line. The artwork for this card features the distinctive gothic architecture of the Orzhov, balancing dark, opulent religious imagery with the cold, administrative efficiency characteristic of the guild. Like its predecessors, it is valued by players for its utility in multi-color Commander decks, where efficient land management is a cornerstone of deck construction.
