Orzhov Basilica

Orzhov Basilica was first introduced in the Guildpact set in 2006, designed to represent the ecclesiastical and debt-collecting nature of the Orzhov Syndicate on the plane of Ravnica. The card functions as a 'bounce land' that provides two colors of mana while requiring the player to return a land to their hand, a mechanic intended to balance resource development with long-term utility in the game's evolving landscape.

The version from Commander 2016, featuring the art of Dan Dos Santos, utilizes a distinct visual style that highlights the gothic, opulent aesthetic of the guild. The illustration captures the Basilica as an imposing structure of white marble and gold, emphasizing the syndicate's role as a bridge between the living and the dead. This specific printing was included in the 'Entropic Uprising' deck, catering to players interested in the political and recursive nature of multi-player formats.
