Pongify

Pongify was originally released in the 2013 Magic: The Gathering set Gatecrash as a common instant spell that destroys a target creature and replaces it with a 3/3 green Ape token. The card is a staple in blue-aligned Commander decks for its efficient, low-cost ability to remove problematic threats, despite the drawback of granting an opponent a creature. It represents a rare instance of blue color-shifted removal, pushing the boundaries of the color's traditional mechanical identity.

The version from the Tarkir: Dragonstorm Commander set features distinct art that reflects the chaotic, transformative nature of the spell. As part of a series focusing on the powerful legends of Tarkir, this printing serves as a utility inclusion designed to provide players with accessible removal options within the preconstructed deck format. The illustration emphasizes the sudden biological transmutation central to the card's function, maintaining the original intent of a flavorful, albeit disruptive, magical effect.
