Restoration Angel

Restoration Angel was originally released in the 2012 set Avacyn Restored, designed to serve as a high-impact white creature that could protect other permanents while providing a formidable body on the battlefield. The card quickly became a centerpiece of tournament play due to its versatile flash ability and synergy with creatures that possess enters-the-battlefield effects. By the time it was reprinted in Iconic Masters in 2017, the card had cemented its reputation as a staple of the Modern format.

The art for this specific printing features the work of illustrator Johannes Voss, who sought to capture the ethereal and protective nature of the angel through a soft, radiant aesthetic. Voss’s interpretation departed from the more aggressive depictions often found in the game, focusing instead on themes of sanctity and light. The community widely praised this version for its evocative style, often noting how it elevated the card beyond its mechanical utility to become a visual highlight of the Iconic Masters set.
