Where it came from
Shigeki, Jukai Visionary was originally introduced in the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set before appearing as part of a Secret Lair Drop series. This version, numbered 2843, serves as a stylistic reimagining of the character, drawing on the aesthetic themes of the Japanese-inspired plane while utilizing the unique, expressive art styles frequently commissioned for the Secret Lair product line to offer players and collectors a distinct visual alternative to the standard card frame.
The design of this iteration centers on the mystical connection between the character and the Jukai forest, with the illustration intended to emphasize a blend of traditional folklore and the technological influence prevalent in the Kamigawa setting. As with many Secret Lair cards, the release was designed to appeal to those who value artistic diversity in their card pools, and it was received by the community as a sophisticated interpretation of a popular commander and utility card.
