Shigeki, Jukai Visionary

Shigeki, Jukai Visionary was introduced as part of the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty set in 2022, marking a thematic return to the fan-favorite plane of Kamigawa. This iteration of the character represents the Jukai forest's spirit as the plane shifted from its historical, folklore-heavy roots toward a futuristic, cyberpunk-influenced aesthetic. The card reflects this blend of nature and technology through its mechanics, which allow players to recur cards from the graveyard, embodying the cycle of growth and decay within the forest.

The illustrative design for this promo version was crafted to highlight the ethereal yet grounded nature of the character, utilizing the unique art styles featured throughout the Neon Dynasty promotional run. These promo treatments were designed to provide collectors with distinct visual variations of the core set cards, often featuring extended or alternate border treatments that emphasize the set's high-contrast, neon-infused color palette. Upon release, the card was well-received by players for its versatility in Commander and other eternal formats, cementing its place as both a functional utility piece and a visual showcase of the set's design language.
