Where it came from
Shiny Impetus was released in 2022 as part of the Battle for Baldur's Gate expansion for Magic: The Gathering, specifically featured in the Party Time Commander deck. This enchantment belongs to a cycle of 'Impetus' cards, which were designed to introduce a political element to the game by forcing an opponent's creature to attack someone other than the controller, thereby encouraging chaotic board states and incentivizing interaction between other players.
The card's artwork, illustrated by Wisnutanu, depicts a vibrant, glowing magical sigil that reflects the Dungeons and Dragons source material from which the set draws its inspiration. It was well-received by the Commander community for its utility in defensive strategies, as it serves as both a form of protection for the caster and a tool for redirecting threats during multiplayer games.
