Where it came from
The Shivan Dragon appeared in the 1994 Summer Magic set, technically known as the Edgar set. This run was intended to be a corrected reprint of the Revised Edition to address various printing errors and color saturation issues, but it was largely destroyed following a warehouse flood, making the remaining cards exceptionally scarce within the Magic: The Gathering community.
The artwork was created by Melissa A. Benson, whose iconic depiction of the dragon became one of the definitive images of the game's early years.
