Sign in Blood // Sign in Blood

Sign in Blood is a classic black sorcery card that debuted in the 2010 Magic: The Gathering set Magic 2010, designed as a staple effect that allows a player to draw two cards at the cost of two life. The Strixhaven Art Series, which includes this piece as card 72s, was released in 2021 as a collection of premium, borderless art cards. These cards were designed to highlight the illustrative talent behind the game, focusing on the visual storytelling of the cards rather than their mechanical function in a deck.

The art featured on this specific card was illustrated by Johannes Voss. Known for his evocative and atmospheric style, Voss reimagined the dark, visceral imagery of the original card through the lens of the Strixhaven aesthetic, which emphasizes magical academia and arcane scholarship. The release was well-received by collectors for its high-quality print finish and the opportunity to appreciate the detailed composition of the artwork without the interference of traditional card text frames.
