Snow-Covered Island

The Snow-Covered Island from Mystery Booster 2 is a modern printing of a basic land card first introduced during the Ice Age expansion of Magic: The Gathering in 1995. These cards were designed to represent the frigid, inhospitable landscapes of the Dominarian continent of Terisiare, featuring distinct, stark art styles that emphasized the harsh winter theme of the set. The inclusion of these cards in the 2024 Mystery Booster 2 set serves as a nod to Magic's long history, offering players a chance to obtain classic art styles that are often sought after for their aesthetic consistency in deck building.

The visual design of the Snow-Covered Island has historically been a focal point for collectors who value cohesive deck aesthetics, as the card's frame and art style distinguish it from standard basic lands. While this specific iteration comes from the Mystery Booster 2 product—a compilation set designed primarily for limited play environments—it utilizes the iconic, atmospheric illustrations that have defined the 'snow' land subtype for decades. It remains a functional piece of game utility that simultaneously functions as a collectible artifact of the game's evolving visual identity.
