Soldier

The Soldier token card, numbered 1 in the Duel Decks: Elspeth vs. Tezzeret set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2010. These decks were designed to provide a thematic, balanced play experience for two players, pitting the white-aligned Planeswalker Elspeth Tirel against the blue-aligned artificer Tezzeret. This specific token was created as an essential utility piece for Elspeth's deck, which relied on her abilities to generate board presence through creature summons.

The art for this iteration of the Soldier token follows the aesthetic traditions of the Magic: The Gathering Duel Decks series, which often repurposed existing artistic styles to represent the armies under a commander's influence. As a standard 1/1 white creature token, it serves a functional role in gameplay, representing the disposable but numerous forces loyal to Elspeth. The card was received as a standard but necessary inclusion for the deck's mechanics, providing a clear visual representation of the soldier units spawned by the associated Planeswalker cards.
