Soldier

The Soldier token card from the Time Spiral Remastered set was released in 2021 by Wizards of the Coast. This set was designed as a curated retrospective of the original Time Spiral block, a period in Magic: The Gathering history celebrated for its intricate mechanical callbacks and nostalgic exploration of the game's past. The token was created to support various cards within the remastered environment that generate 1/1 Soldier creature tokens, ensuring that players had a consistent physical representation of these units during gameplay.

The visual design of the token leans into the aesthetic established by the classic sets of the mid-2000s, reflecting a balance between function and the thematic grandeur of the game’s fantasy armies. While token cards are often considered peripheral to the primary card list, they represent a vital aspect of the game's tactile experience. The artwork was commissioned to align with the refined, polished style that Wizards of the Coast utilized for their remastered product lines, which aimed to evoke the feeling of the original releases while meeting modern print standards.
