Provenance

Where it came from

The Spider token, numbered 12 in the Foundations Commander Tokens set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024 to support the evergreen creature types frequently generated by green-aligned cards in Magic: The Gathering. These tokens are designed to provide physical representation for game effects that populate the battlefield with 1/2 reach creatures, ensuring clarity during complex board states in Commander format matches.

The art style for the Foundations set was curated to provide a cohesive, modern visual language across the game's expansive history. This specific illustration follows the established artistic direction for spider creatures in the game, focusing on an intimidating, arachnid silhouette set against a neutral, atmospheric background to ensure the card remains legible and functional for players during intense gameplay.
