Provenance

Where it came from

The Dragon token, numbered 7 in the Foundations Commander Tokens set, was released by Wizards of the Coast in 2024 to support gameplay mechanics within the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. These tokens represent transient entities summoned to the battlefield by various spells and permanent abilities, serving as essential utility pieces for players managing complex board states during Commander matches.

The artwork for this series reflects the established aesthetic standards of modern Magic: The Gathering, emphasizing high-fantasy creature design meant to be visually distinct from traditional deck cards. While specific artist credits for individual tokens in the Foundations release are often grouped within the set's broader production documentation, these tokens were designed to balance functional clarity with the immersive, dramatic imagery expected by long-term hobbyists.
