Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning was released in 2021 as part of the Strixhaven Mystical Archive, a specialized subset of cards included within the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The Mystical Archive was designed to represent iconic spells from across the history of the game, reimagined with distinct, stylized artwork reflecting the diverse aesthetic cultures of the Strixhaven university setting. These cards were distributed in both standard and collector booster packs, featuring a unique frame treatment that became highly sought after by collectors for its artistic cohesion.

The artwork for this specific printing was created by artist Livia Prima, who utilized a lush, ethereal style to evoke the academic and magical atmosphere of the university. The design focuses on the visual language of knowledge and foresight, common themes in blue-aligned magic. Upon its release, the set was well-received by the player base, with many praising the high level of detail and the departure from traditional card illustrations toward a more refined, illustrative aesthetic that emphasized the card's function as a tool for tactical advantage.
