Strategic Planning // Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning was originally introduced as a common card in the Hour of Devastation expansion, designed as a versatile blue sorcery that facilitates graveyard synergy and card selection. The Strixhaven Art Series version, released in 2021, recontextualizes this mechanic within the academic setting of Strixhaven University, representing the intellectual rigor expected of its students. It serves as an extended-art showcase piece that prioritizes the visual identity of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse over standard gameplay utility.

The artwork for this specific print was commissioned for the Strixhaven Art Series, a promotional collection of double-sided cards featuring full-bleed illustrations on the front and artist information on the back. These cards were distributed via set boosters, aimed at collectors who appreciate the game's aesthetic evolution. The design focuses on the magical pedagogy of the setting, emphasizing clean lines and the thematic colors associated with the university's various magical disciplines.
