Stream of Life

Stream of Life was originally printed in Alpha, the very first Magic: The Gathering set released by Wizards of the Coast in 1993, and was included as a common card in the Seventh Edition core set in 2002. As a green sorcery, it represents the fundamental mana-ramp and life-gain mechanics that have defined the color green since the game's inception. Its inclusion in Seventh Edition marked a transition period for the game, as this was the first base set to feature modern card frames and updated rules text intended to streamline gameplay for a growing international audience.

The artwork for this version was commissioned from Andrew Goldhawk, whose illustrative style brought a lush, naturalistic aesthetic to the Seventh Edition release. His depiction of the card sought to visually capture the essence of restorative growth, aligning with the mechanical intent of replenishing a player's life total through the flow of nature.
