Swamp

The Swamp card numbered 561 was released as part of the 'Secret Lair: Dan Frazier is Back Again' drop, a collection launched by Wizards of the Coast in 2021. This set served as a tribute to the artist Dan Frazier, who is celebrated for his iconic work on the original Power Nine cards from the earliest days of Magic: The Gathering. The drop was designed to revisit the aesthetics of the game's foundational era, applying Frazier's distinctive painterly style to the basic land cards that serve as the backbone of every deck.

Dan Frazier approached these lands with the intention of capturing the quintessential, haunting atmosphere of the Magic landscape. His work on this Swamp emphasizes dark, evocative textures and subtle, organic forms that ground the player in the game's swampy, mana-rich environments. The reception among collectors was favorable, particularly among those who value the historical continuity between the game's 1993 origins and contemporary card design, marking this item as a nostalgic touchstone within the Secret Lair series.
