Swamp

The Swamp card from the Warhammer 40,000 Commander set, assigned the collector number 311, was released in 2022 as part of a collaborative effort between Wizards of the Coast and Games Workshop. This release marked a significant crossover for the Magic: The Gathering franchise, integrating the grim, futuristic lore of the 41st millennium into the commander format. The card functions as a basic land, providing a thematic aesthetic anchor for decks built around the black-aligned factions of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, such as the Necrons or the forces of Chaos.

The artwork for this specific land reflects the signature aesthetic of the Warhammer 40,000 setting, emphasizing industrial decay and atmospheric gloom that defines the faction's visual identity. Designed to maintain mechanical consistency with standard Magic cards while serving as a collectible artifact for fans of both intellectual properties, the piece was received as a successful stylistic immersion into the tabletop game's broader multiverse. It remains a staple for players seeking to theme their decks around the dark, war-torn landscapes of the Imperium and its adversaries.
