Where it came from
Tempt with Glory was first printed in the Commander 2013 set and later featured in the 2017 Commander Anthology. Designed as part of the 'Tempting Offer' cycle, this sorcery was created to encourage table-wide interaction, allowing the caster to place a +1/+1 counter on a creature and then offering opponents the chance to do the same in exchange for the caster receiving further benefits. It fits into the political-oriented playstyle central to the Commander format.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Kev Walker, who has contributed extensive work to Magic: The Gathering. His design utilizes a high-fantasy aesthetic that emphasizes the allure and potential danger of the spell's effect. Upon its release, the card was received as a flavorful, albeit situational, inclusion for decks focused on group-hug or political gameplay, often recognized for its role in shaping multi-player dynamics rather than competitive efficiency.
