Where it came from
Tempt with Immortality, originally appearing in the Commander 2013 set, was released as a special edition card within the Secret Lair series, specifically appearing as part of the 'Calling All Hydra Heads' drop. This series was designed by Wizards of the Coast to feature high-concept artistic treatments, moving away from traditional Magic: The Gathering aesthetics to offer collectors stylized, limited-availability versions of established game pieces.
The artwork for this specific iteration was commissioned to provide a distinct visual identity that reflects the card's theme of resurrection and recurring sacrifice. By commissioning specialized artists for the Secret Lair platform, the developers aimed to create collectible objects that appeal as much to art enthusiasts as to competitive players, resulting in a reception characterized by strong demand among those seeking to personalize their tabletop decks with unique, curated illustrations.
