Where it came from
Tireless Provisioner was originally introduced in the Modern Horizons 2 expansion, released by Wizards of the Coast in 2021. Designed specifically for the Modern format and its associated draft environment, the card was conceptualized to provide mana acceleration and deck utility through the creation of Food or Treasure tokens. Its mechanics are a thematic nod to the classic card Tireless Tracker, maintaining a focus on land-based synergy within the green color identity of Magic: The Gathering.
The artwork for this card was created by artist Andrew Mar, who depicted the provisioner as a resourceful wanderer gathering supplies in a lush, wilderness setting. The design emphasizes the character's role as a support figure, aligning with the card's function of stockpiling resources for the player. Upon release, it was well-received by the player community for its versatility in both competitive and casual formats, often praised for the strategic depth it adds to land-heavy deck archetypes.
