Where it came from
Together Forever was released in 2018 as part of Battlebond, a unique Magic: The Gathering set specifically designed for the Two-Headed Giant format. Unlike standard sets, Battlebond focused on collaborative gameplay, featuring mechanics that encouraged players to partner up with teammates to overcome shared opponents, reflecting the themes of friendship and mutual support found in the set's lore.
The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-time contributor to the game known for his expressive and emotive style. Voss aimed to capture a sense of deep, enduring connection between the two figures depicted, using a soft color palette and flowing linework to emphasize their unity. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its thematic resonance with the set's cooperative philosophy and its practical utility in EDH and casual multiplayer formats.
