Where it came from
Together Forever was released in 2021 as part of the Silverquill Statement Commander deck, a thematic set tied to the Strixhaven: School of Mages expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The card was designed to support the set's focus on the Orzhov-aligned college of Silverquill, which emphasizes political manipulation and the strengthening of one's own creatures. Its mechanics, which allow players to put +1/+1 counters on creatures and return them to hand, were crafted to reward a strategy of persistence and resource recursion.
The artwork for this piece was created by artist Livia Prima, who has contributed extensively to the Magic: The Gathering visual aesthetic. Her design for Together Forever leans into the ornate, academic, and slightly melancholic atmosphere of the Strixhaven setting, utilizing a color palette and composition that highlights the cooperative bond between the figures depicted. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional, flavor-aligned inclusion for decks centered on +1/+1 counter synergies and resilient creature boards.
