Tormenting Voice

Tormenting Voice was originally released in the Khans of Tarkir expansion, but this specific version appeared in the 2016 set Conspiracy: Take the Crown. As part of a set designed for draft-style multiplayer play, the card serves as a flexible utility spell, allowing players to discard a card to draw two. Its inclusion in this supplemental set helped provide consistency to the draft environment, offering players a way to cycle through their decks while fueling graveyard-based strategies common in the Black-Red color identity.

The artwork for this printing features the work of illustrator Mathias Kollros, who depicts a figure channeling chaotic magical energy. The visual design emphasizes the visceral, high-stakes nature of red-aligned magic, fitting the thematic intensity of the Conspiracy narrative. Upon its release, the card was well-received by players for its efficient mana cost and its role as a fundamental engine piece in both limited formats and various constructed deck archetypes.
