Where it came from
Virtue of Loyalty // Ardenvale Fealty was released as part of the Wilds of Eldraine set in 2023, serving as a marquee entry in the Enchantment cycle that defines the set's fairy-tale aesthetic. Designed by the Wizards of the Coast development team, the card utilizes a double-faced format to represent the blend of magical narrative and strategic utility inherent to the plane of Eldraine. It was created to provide players with a versatile tool that balances board-state stability with long-term mechanical scaling.
The art featured on the promo version, specifically the 38s variant, was commissioned to lean into the high-fantasy, storybook illustration style that characterizes the Wilds of Eldraine. The design intent focused on capturing the royal, chivalric atmosphere of the Ardenvale castle, emphasizing themes of protection and persistence. Upon release, the card was well-received by the Magic: The Gathering community for its efficiency in Limited and Commander formats, establishing itself as a staple among players who favor white-aligned control or token-based strategies.
