Whispersilk Cloak

Whispersilk Cloak was originally introduced in the 2004 set Darksteel as an uncommon artifact equipment. It was designed to provide creatures with two powerful evasive keywords—shroud and unblockable—effectively turning any creature into a protected, direct threat. The card was conceptualized during the Mirrodin block, a period defined by an artifact-heavy mechanical focus that reshaped standard gameplay by emphasizing equipment as a primary vector for creature enhancement.

This specific printing comes from the 2010 release Duel Decks: Phyrexia vs. the Coalition, which celebrated the long-standing narrative conflict between the Phyrexian invaders and the defenders of Dominaria. The art was illustrated by Dan Scott, who depicted the garment as a flowing, ethereal shroud. Within the context of the Duel Decks series, the card was included to provide the Coalition deck with a reliable way to bypass defensive walls and ensure critical creatures could reach the opponent directly.
