Whispersilk Cloak

Whispersilk Cloak was introduced in the Magic 2011 core set as a functional reprint of a card originally debuted in the Mirrodin expansion. Its design is centered on the intersection of two powerful keyword abilities: shroud, which prevents the creature from being targeted by spells or abilities, and unblockable, which ensures the creature cannot be intercepted in combat. This combination was intended to create an efficient, low-cost way to protect and empower a key threat, cementing its status as a staple in casual Commander decks and limited environments.

The card features an illustration by the artist Martina Pilcerova. Her work on the piece focuses on the ethereal, shifting quality of the garment, capturing the magical essence of invisibility and protection inherent to the item's mechanical function. Upon its release in the 2011 set, the card was well-received by players for its utility in 'Voltron' strategies, where a single creature is outfitted with multiple enchantments or equipment to secure a win, providing a reliable baseline for survivability.
