Whispersilk Cloak

Whispersilk Cloak was introduced in the Magic 2010 core set, released by Wizards of the Coast in July 2009. It represented a mechanical evolution in the game, functioning as an equipment card that grants both shroud and unblockable status to the equipped creature. Its inclusion in a core set was intended to provide a versatile, budget-friendly utility piece that could be utilized across a wide variety of deck archetypes, particularly those focused on protecting key threats or enabling lethal direct damage.

The artwork for the card was rendered by artist Efrem Palacios, who chose a high-fantasy aesthetic featuring swirling, ethereal textiles that suggest the magical concealment inherent in the card's function. Upon its release, the card was widely received by the player base as a powerful limited-format staple. Its design successfully balanced a simple, intuitive ability with a potent impact on the battlefield, securing its reputation as a reliable piece of equipment in casual and commander play environments for over a decade.
