White Ward

White Ward is a card from the 1994 Summer Magic expansion, often referred to as Edgar. This set was produced as a limited reprint of the Revised Edition for the Edgara company, a distributor in the European market. It was created to satisfy the high demand for Magic: The Gathering cards in regions where previous supply had been insufficient, featuring a distinct, slightly darker color saturation compared to standard Revised prints.

The card was originally illustrated by Dameon Willich, who contributed numerous designs to the early years of the game. His aesthetic, characterized by a gothic, illustrative style, provided a consistent visual language for the early white-aligned spells. While the card itself functions as a foundational protective enchantment within the game's mechanics, its legacy is largely defined by its relative scarcity and the unique historical anomaly of the Summer Magic print run, which remains a focal point for enthusiasts of early trading card history.
