Where it came from
Winota, Joiner of Forces was originally released in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths, designed by the Wizards of the Coast development team to explore synergy-heavy mechanics within a monster-themed plane. The card quickly became a centerpiece in several competitive formats due to its powerful triggered ability, which allows players to cheat high-cost creature cards directly onto the battlefield.
The specific version referenced, collector number 2768, originates from a Secret Lair drop. These releases are curated, limited-run printings featuring stylized, thematic artwork that departs from the standard visual language of the core game. This particular card was reimagined with distinctive artistic flair to appeal to collectors who prioritize aesthetic variance and the unique personality of the Secret Lair series.
