Moriarty the Patriot, Vol. 9

Moriarty the Patriot, Volume 9, is part of the manga adaptation of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock Holmes stories, re-envisioned through the perspective of James Moriarty. Written by Ryosuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi, the series was serialized in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine beginning in 2016. This specific volume continues the narrative arc that explores the philosophical and socio-political motivations behind the protagonist’s 'Lord of Crime' persona in Victorian-era England.

The aesthetic of the series, led by Hikaru Miyoshi, balances traditional shonen action with a gothic, refined elegance intended to mirror the period setting. As the series progressed into its later volumes, the reception centered on its shift from episodic mystery solving to a broader commentary on class struggle and systematic corruption. Volume 9 serves as a crucial mid-to-late point in this saga, reflecting the publisher Viz Media's commitment to bringing contemporary seinen-leaning works to a broader English-language audience.
