Where it came from
The Charizard ex card, numbered 056/215, was released as part of the Scarlet & Violet Black Star Promos set. It was specifically included as an oversized card in the Charizard ex Super-Premium Collection, released in late 2023. This release capitalizes on the enduring popularity of Charizard as the mascot of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, consistently featured in special promotional sets to mark the introduction of new mechanics, such as the Terastal phenomenon introduced in the ninth generation of games.
The card features the character in its Terastal form, depicted with the crystalline aesthetic and signature crown motif central to the Scarlet and Violet expansion design. While the artwork utilizes the standard digital style characteristic of modern Pokémon cards, it emphasizes the visual spectacle of the Tera mechanic. The card was received by collectors as a centerpiece for the collection box, valued primarily for its role as a promotional tie-in rather than as a competitively sought-after card for gameplay tournaments.
