Grande Sonate En La Majeur Pour Guitare Et Violon, Tarentella En La Mineur, Six Sonates Opus 3 Pour Violon Et Guitare

Released under the La Voix de Son Maître label, this recording brings together the virtuoso compositions of Niccolò Paganini, a nineteenth-century Italian violinist known for pushing the boundaries of string performance. The selection of works highlights the interplay between the violin and guitar, a pairing Paganini frequently utilized to explore complex contrapuntal arrangements that demanded extreme technical proficiency from both performers.

This specific performance features the French violinist Régis Pasquier and the Italian guitarist Oscar Ghiglia. Released as part of a series intended to showcase chamber works for smaller ensembles, the recording reflects a mid-twentieth-century approach to historical performance. The collaboration was well regarded for its clarity and the balanced dialogue maintained between the two instruments, capturing the intricate, often athletic nature of Paganini's sonatas with precision and restraint.
